Developed by Clemson and Cornell. Breeding lines from Ashley, Polaris and others with good vigor. Poinsett has a high degree of resistance to diseases and produces excellently shaped and colored slicing cucumbers for the home garden or the most critical markets. 7-8” long fruit.

May be grown on a wide range of soil, but a sandy loam with pH 5.5 to 6.5 is preferred. Make first planting after last frost in spring and a second planting 3 or 4 weeks later. Plant in rows 5 feet apart and drill seed so that a final stand of one plant every 12-14 inches is obtained. Where space is limited cucumbers may be trained on fence, trellis, or poles. Two pounds of seed will plant one acre; ½ oz. per 100 ft. of row. Do not plant where vine crops (watermelons, squash, cucumbers or cantaloupes) grew the year before.
