Developed by the National Pickle Packers Association in collaboration with the Michigan Agricultural Experiment Station. Medium green, full ended, symmetrical, black spined fruit that grows up to 6” long. Very prolific and fine quality. Can be picked at any stage depending on need. Resistant to scab and cucumber mosaic virus. Heirloom

May be grown on a wide range of soil, but a sandy loam with pH 5.5 to 6.5 is preferred. Make first planting after last frost in spring and a second planting 3 or 4 weeks later. Plant in rows 5 feet apart and drill seed so that a final stand of one plant every 12-14 inches is obtained. Where space is limited cucumbers may be trained on fence, trellis, or poles. Two pounds of seed will plant one acre; ½ oz. per 100 ft. of row. Do not plant where vine crops (watermelons, squash, cucumbers or cantaloupes) grew the year before
